A Salute To 'Hail Hail Freedonia'

I have always liked the idea of fictitious countries and unusual wargame uses for assorted 54mm figures. I just spent a pleasant hour looking at Simon Shakewell's 'Hail Hail Freedonia'.

Various imaginary countries, including the Freedonia from the Marx brothers compete for their place in the sun. They even have colonies and a joint expedition to 'The Crimson Empire', using some impressive cardboard ships with cardboard toilet roll funnels to get there.

Regiments are painted in various invented designs and ACW and British troops find new uses. Paul Wright's Funny Little Wars has also been an inspiration here as it has been for some of my own wargames.

If you haven't yet had a squiz at this whimsical toy soldier world I recommend you do.
