 The Stellar Republic is at 17th century technology level with matchlock muskets. The language differs from Beerstein, Bogavania and Fezia but the Beersteiners' language is closest. In our own universe, on Earth it is very similar to Dutch and so are many of the names.   Unlike the major powers, the Stellar Republic is close to what we call democratic, with its leaders elected by a majority of males, of sound mind, and who are over 21. Voting is compulsory except for those over 60. The position of president is held for two years and those eligible must be between 30 and 60. They must also pass a special exam to establish they have sufficient intelligence and the correct disposition.
