The War Continues

A continuation of the invasion of Crussia is intended this coming Sunday.
Kaiser Conrad had ordered that the town of Tolstoy be bypassed and that the invasion aim to capture the iron ore mines. The town of Ivansky had been captured and this was to be the base of operations.

Zsar Nickoff and the zsarina Lubov rallied their people. Faced with invasion by a foreign power even the anarchists refrained from their dastardly attacks.

So far the Crussians have put up an effective defence of their homeland. Instead of trying to immediately liberate occupied Ivansky they have worked to cut off the Hermans from occupying further towns. The strategy has involved forced marches over the Lubansky Plateau.

The cavalry outstripped the Herman cavalry and waited to outflank them. So far they have been successful in this. The leader of the black cossacks, Patriech, had recovered, under the gentle hands of the nuns in a convent, from his wounds. There was some scandal about the circumstances of his leaving the convent but he had no trouble in recruiting for his famous/infamous regiment and it has played a prominent role.

Von Fleet has sent his elite lancers to try to slow the Crussian cossacks, lancers and hussars and is now locked in combat.

The Crussian militia, on the other flank, have occupied the iron mines and the regulars have marched in the wake of the cavalry across the plateau (the veranda). Herman flanks are vulnerable.
Crusian artillery have taken positions in the Alexi Valley to stop any Herman advance on Petersville. They have traded fire with their opposite numbers. Two Herman machine guns were put out of action but the Crussian heavy gun has been temporarily put put of action by counter battery fire. Secretly the Crussian militia have been reinforced with machine guns.
