Triumph of the Undead; Move ten of the 3 Armies.

The forces of the Empire, with its foot knights, drove back the the Fezian cavalry and destroyed it. The Imperial giant brained the Fezian elephant and the wizard disabled the Fezian chariot before its crew was finished off by the giant. Yet more Fezian cavalry impetuously crossed the river into Imperial territory to dispute it.

Above and below: The skeletons battle the dwarfs outside the Imperial fort.

On the other flank two skeleton regiments insinuated themselves into Imperial territory.  One of these, after destroying a unit of archers, attacked the dwarfs, who fought them off until finally forced to flee. The dwarfs regained their courage and attacked the skeletons, this time reinforced by mounted knights. Even after this, two skeletons remained, immune to any loss of morale. The other skeleton regiment was headed by a vampire and it edged forward despite repeated shells from the empire cannon finding their mark. The vampire leader came close, himself, to biting the graveyard dust.
Meanwhile, in Fezian territory Fezian forces were virtually swept from the field by the undead as vampires repeatedly summoned fresh zombie and skeleton regiments. One vampire cast a spell giving himself wings and he flew into the Fezian castle to join the summoned zombies there and claim the seventy points!

                                                         Below: Shriek does his thing.

On the Empire's side the Vikings and Snorri the werewolf were invaluable. On the Undead side the Crypt guard were so tough they banished the Fezian giant and the vampires were very tough opponents. The Undead allied giant Shriek scared off a number of Fezian units, including an elephant, with his breath alone! Fezian elephants and giant did effective service until overwhelmed by Undead numbers.

The fun aspects of the game included including units and creatures not in the Warhammer stats and getting them to fit in. We also allowed vampires to command no-ephemeral units, something not allowed in the latest Warhammer edition and something to review in our next Warhammer 54mm game. That game will include a zombie dragon and heavily armoured Black Guard as well as characters like Krull on the Undead side. The human armies will have their share of heroes and magic items to counter the vampires.

In the end Ryan won the game by 300 points, having captured swathes of Fezian territory and disputed Imperial control over its borders. My Empire held its own and Mat's Fez paid the price for placing its priority on challenging the Empire instead of destroying the undead.
