Warhammer 40 K battle of the Pyramid

Fellow 40K Warhammer player, Keith came over on this Saturday to play a six move game on my 9' by 10 foot table. It was still set up as a desert terrain table from my 54mm Mexican games. Our armies were 3000 points, Keith's being Eldar with some Space Marine allies, whilst mine was Ork with some Dark Eldar allies. We divided the board diagonally with deployment 12 inches from the centre. with two objectives, one being at the top of the pyramid.

The centrepiece of my army was my new stompa and it was worth its 600 points, especially as its primary ordnance weapon had a 72 inch range. For most of the game it owned the centre.

A combined force of Truck Boyz and raider mounted Dark Eldar  moved to the right flank, out of range of Eldar fire for the first moves. When contact was made losses were great but Ork power claws chewed up some Eldar skimmers. A drop pod delayed the Ork battlewagon as Mad Dok Grotsnik disembarked with 19 cyborg 'eavy armoured orks charged the disembarked librarian and marines.

The Ork Dakka jet and the Eldar jet engaged each other in a duel which eventually led to the destruction of the Ork flyer but it had prevented a successful attack on the stompa.

The game ended with one space marine claiming the objective on top of the pyramid and a single Eldar jet bike claiming the other objective.

 Eldar Fire Warriors sizzle some orks but two will survive to join Incubi in an attack which will destroy these Eldar.

                     Although the Dark Eldar succeed in the assault incoming fire kills them off.

 A def dread is about to be destroyed by incoming after it saw off some jet bikes. The kill cannon equipped looted vehicle has also destroyed a swathe of jet bikes but one remains to claim the objective in the brush.

                                                            The stompa remains unscathed.
