I'm Back

I've been without my laptop for two weeks and hence the lack of postings while it has been repaired.

Quite a few things have been happening though. A Funny little Wars game was played outside with Matt. Gerolstein, commanded by myself fought off an invasion by the Crussians under Matt.

We used the night fighting cards that come with the FLW campaign book. Eight moves of night were followed by eight moves of day.
We deployed six units a side for the night moves with equal numbers of blank cards. It was interesting to send out scouting cavalry to determine enemy positions.

With dawn, additional units arrived, the general and the artillery. We also used FLW chance cards which revealed 'Flanders Mud' which slowed down the artillery and generals, reducing their effectiveness, although Matt's heavy artillery piece wiped out half a regiment.

Three towns and a farm were fought over. At the end one town was in dispute but about to be liberated by the Gerolsteiners, one was in the hands of the invaders, one controlled by Gerolstein and the farm also in Gerolsteiner hands. Crussian losses were considerably higher than Gerolstein's.

It was a long time since I had played an outdoor game and testifies to an improvement in my back; all that lap swimming at the pool, I'll bet.
I have also been playing three or more games of Warhammer 40k each week, with my Dark Eldar skimmer mounted disintegrators very effective, especially against Space Marines.
I am also assembling and painting Dark Elf kits, notably the Hydra and Witches. The similarity between the futuristic Dark Eldar and Medieval Dark Elves is obvious.
