Battle of the Bog Round 2

Beersteiner crossbowmwn take aim at Bogavanian knights crossing the river.
Bolstered, by Beersteiner crusaders, Beersteiner archers stand their ground.

Meanwhile Hillmen mercenaries supporting Beerstein and led by Harald Greentoof move forward to meet a column of Bogavanian peasants..
                                                       The Beersteiner view.
Bogavanian mounted knights carge towards the Beersteiner lines but a heavy reception committee await them.

A standoff doesn't last long as Beersteiner crusaders chomp at the bit.
Bogavanian peasants cross   Bogavanian mounted knights plough into the Hill Men spearmen, crating great damage until the ranks of spears begin to cause damage.
Hillmen berserkers charged out of the forest sending a large unit of Bogavanian archers running but were then set upon by the Easterner medium mounted archers. The berserkers, with their two handed axes carved through them even as they fell to the scimitars. Finally no more horsemen stood and a small number of berserkers continued to charge forward towards the enemy catapult crew and there met their match.

The gallant Bogavanian mounted knights are attacked by the Great Sword mercenaries who go to the aid of the spearmen.

After re-checking the points I discovered that Beerstein had 200 more points than Bogavania so in the interests of 'fairness' today mat and I had a re-match. My forces still had about 40 more troops than Bogavania but that was due to mat having more mounted figures and more bowmen, quite a lot more if you count his mounted bowmen. The Sultan of Fezia has given Bogavania a 'gift' of two units of heavy plate armoured infantry due to the traditional Fezian hatred of Beerstein. This caused some theological embarrassment for Bogavania but in the end military necessity won.

Beersteiner men at arms drive off some Bogavanian mercenary Hill Men.
Harald Greentoof swings his mighty axe, Brainbiter and sites the peasants even as some Fezian knights join the battle. The Hillmen see off both enemies and then decides it is time to march away!

Beersteiners cross the river to pursue fleeing Bogavanian archers.

After a very bloody battle the  Bogavanians left the field, the Beersteiners, too badly mauled to catch them. The Bogavanians had sustained most damage but the Beersteiners had also suffered.

  2. I have been looking back on these early campaign games and I am reminded, that for some reason, Bogavania and Beerstein switched colors so then Beerstein had blue and white (but white and black for crusaders) and Bogavania red and yellow but this became the reverse.
