Op shop Castles
Recently I was in San Remo, next to Philip Island, and checked out the local op shop (charity shop for non Australians) and picked up two kids' castles and accessories for $7.50 total. The assembled castle is a soft slightly squeezy plastic obviously designed for very young children. It lacks substantial walkways but would serve, in separate pieces, as backgrounds on shelves. The set came with the siege tower and battering ram that are serviceable. There was also a large container of slightly rubbery and painted copies of Britains Detail Saracens and also Playmobile type knight copies.
The other castle is wood with paper pattern coverings and would look good on shelves as backgrounds for old metal soldiers.
