Hex Campaign Map Board
Quite some time ago I bought the Games Work Shop campaign hexes. They are great 3D pieces. I put them together, taking care to have continuity for rivers that begin in mountains and head for the sea, This is the map Mathew and i have been using for the Bogavania/Beerstein campaign and the campaign led to some modification to borders. The borders are distinguished by red lines. Our movement had been 2 hexes at a time but we will be reducing that to 2 hex moves or 3 for cavalry. We are going to allow for parts of armies to break off and so on. Ideally we should have 3 copies of the map. more recently i decided the map was not big enough so I found a large board and blue tacked the hexes to it with some expansion of Bogavania and Beerstein and the addition of other countries. I used a singler hex to trace the additional hexes after initially painting the board with acrylic house paint.
The other countries shown are the lands of the Dark Elves, orks, Hill Men, Undead, Matra, Fezia and some of its provinces, Chaos, Fritzerland and The Silver Horde. Additional boards may be added to extend 'The World'. Ultimately I am going to make paper copies and have them laminated to use erasable marker pens on. Most of the new hexes have terrain known only in a general sense and will have to be explored to find the details although this might risk war with a third power! These other powers themselves are unpredictable and may decided to invade one of our countries or each other. We already had a rebellion in a Fezian province of Aztecia which was put down. Fritzerland is a nod to David Palmer whose Funny Little Wars army has the same orign so this is the medieval version in case David visits and decides to invade with his medieval army..
