Creating Fezia

So far most of our fantasy campaign has occurred in the fighting between Bogavania and Beerstein. Beerstein is intended as vaguely Germanic and Bogavania is more Eastern European, a sort of amalgam of Russia, Hungarian, Polish and Balkans. Fezia, however is an amalgam of medieval Turkey and ancient Persia. It is envisaged as a large empire with plenty of resources but also occasionally restless regional populations to hold down. it is more favorable to Bogavania than Beerstein.

On my map Fezia is, so far, only partly marked in and what exists are mainly blank hexes with a large river marked in and some coast. A mountainous Northern border separates Fezia from Necrolia. In the east the mongol Silver Horde poses a threat. it has also faced and put down a rebellion of the Aztecs in the Southern province of Aztecia. recently, of course, it launched an unsuccessful invasion of Beerstein. This was undertaken at the request of the vizier of Thyroidia and was not a full scale invasion using Fezia's substantial resources. It also resulted in the Vizier being knocked unconscious and captured by Beerstein.

I have begun filling in the map details. firstly by deciding on the location of cities and villages. A preference was given for river and coastal hexes and a twelve sided dice was rolled with a twelve indicating a city and an  eleven a village. This was increased for likely places such as rivers and coast. I have decided that the military units for each city and village will be decided for rolling two D6 for villages and four for cities with one or two extra dice for regional capital and the capital.

My next step will be to roll for geographical features such as lakes, hills, streams and so on, as well as mines. This will determined the amount of wealth available for replenishing troop numbers eah year.

As we have only two players in the campaign the actions of Fezia and other nations are determined randomly and then the player not invaded takes the part of the Fezians.
