Bogavania Vs Beerstein -Battle For The Village

The Bogavanian have sent an army to try to capture farmland adjoining a Beerstein occupied castlein the South (formerly known as Mathers Castle). The Bogavanians have encountered a stronger Beerstein force occupying it and so they adopt a defensive strategy with a strong force of archers and hand gunners in the centre.Meanwhile a Bogavanian spy has feremented revolt among the peasants who formerly were under Bogavanian rule. Forty peasants vaving a Bogavnian flag appear in the rear of the Beersteiners.
Below: The Beersteiner archers move forward to exchange arrows with their opposite number. Foot knights follow up.

Bogavanian mounted knights and crossbowmen on the Bogavanian right flank.
Beerstein's mercenary Mongols move in to position to shoot at the enemy. They kill a few enemy men-at-arms and peasants.
More mercenary Mongols, this time heavy archers.
                                                  Some bold peasants
Bogavanian men-at-arms engage their opposite mounted versions on the Bogavanian left flank..
Beersteiner foot knights turn and slaughter the peasants until the peasants submit and are taken prisoner. They are needed to work the land or to crew any captured siege weapons but for a while they can expectsome brutal treatment.
The Beersteiners have hesitated to commit their mounted knights as the opposing archery is formidable. Eventually the enemy bowmen move forward sufficiently to pick away at the knight numbers. Finally goaded, they charge the enemy crossbowmen and cut them down.
The formidable Bogavanian centre. Some of the handgunners have the new matchlocks but do not get an opportunity to use them.
Treachery! The mercenary Hillman axemen have been bribed to change sides from Beersteiner service and attack the crusaders who have been occupied in slaughtering crossbowmen and siege weapon crew! The two handed axes cut through the plate armour as if it were butter! The crusaders are almost wiped out, but with a small number captured.

The matchlocks fail to find a target.
A duel between archers ends with a Beersteiner win when the light archers pass through the town and shoot at the enemy flank.Seen here are the medium archers who out shoot the Bogavanians. previously the Bogavanians hadcausedanumberof casualties among Beersteiner crusaders.

CONCLUSION OF BATTLE

For a while it looked like the Bogavnians might win, especially after the defection of the axemen. The Beersteiner charge on the Bogavanian Right collapsed due to this treachery. However, the Bogavanians failed to stem the Beersteiners on their left flank. Even their hero, Tito Heartly retreated when his unit died around him. A  charge of Bogavanian mounted knights did defeat and almost destroyed a unit of heavy Mongol archers but a unit of enemy foot knights had joined the melee and wiped out the mounted knights.

The units left to the Bogavanians wreavery small unit of archers, the matchlock men and the traitorous axemen along with a catapult and crew and the Tito Heartly. It looked like even these would be run down by Mongol horesmen but the Mongols horses were winded and the riders were not keen to pursue. The archers, however, were too close to the enemy and were killed or captured.

The fate of the crusaders captured by the turncoat axemen is not yet known. It is unlikely that they could flee and take themwith them.In all probablity the crusaders will be axed unless they escape in the confusion.
