The Fall Of Bogavania
The last standing armies of Bogavania, concentrated in the capital received catastrophic news. A new army of Beersteiners under Prince Axel has arrived from the South. The Beersteiners already present from the North and commanded by King Longshanks have already entered the capital's citadel.
The Bogavanian King Mathers has grim choices to make; fight to the death, flee the capital with small chance of escaping the marauding Beersteiners or surrender. The food and arrow supplies were running desperately low.
As it happened it was King Mathers 'lucky Day' as King Long Shanks was in a jolly and conciliatory mood. In fact he was unaware of the desperate state of Bogavanian supplies and he also wished to limit his own armies' casualties as rumours had spread of Northern incursions from Necrolia.
(Damned if you didn't have to kill those evil ones twice).
King Longshanks terms were beneficial to him but, considering the circumstances, not unkind. The Bogavanian armies and royals would be given safe escort through Beersteiner land to Fezia. In return nearly all Bogavanian land (what little which remained) would pass to the Beersteiner crown. One small South Eastern province was allowed for the Bogavanian royal family to keep.
As it came to pass, Longshanks (if he had lived long enough) might have doubted his wisdom but then again it would be 129 years before war would again break out between Beerstein, the descendants of the exiled Bogavanians and the Fezians. For the Sultan, Alioop The Third, had been hearing, from his scouts, of the outcome of the war and he was unhappy. Already two of his incursions into Beerstein had failed. He counted on Bogavania to keep Beerstein in check.
To counter any future threat and to take advantage of Bogavanian longbows and armour the sultan decreed that four border lands would be given administration to Bogavanian nobles. He was not altogether trusting of the Bogavanians, though, and these lands were interspersed with other lnd direct Fezian rule. It was not intended that these lands would be independent of Fezia.
