Something Fishy In Ruritania
Ruritanian and Herman generals peer at the newest weapon in the Ruritanan armed forces, the F Class submarine. Experimentation with both steam and electrical powered systems are being developed, As usual Ruritanian ostentation has few limits and the fish design and decoration will be painted with a combination of garishness and camouflage. Torpedo tubes are positioned at the nose of the submarine. it is expected that the conning tower will be widened.
Lacking the armor of a battleship, it is expected that the submariners might well wave the usual rules of civilized warfare; for example picking up survivors from its torpedo attacks might well be too risky an enterprise.
THE 'MODEL'
I obtained this item at a trash n' treasure market in Melbourne. I thought it would look good in the bathroom to hold soap. it is actually a fish baking dish. But after gazing at this fish in its appointed place i began to see its size and shape lent itself to other purposes - a steam pun submarine! I have to decide how i'll widen the dorsal fin into a conning tower so i can place a couple of submariners in it as they survey the surface; materials could be clay, aluminium or cardboard. Any ideas are welcome.
