Dismounted Confederate Cavalry

The first six photos show my latest dismounted Confederates, mostly Airfix but with a Cherilea cavalryman painted as a Confederate. For some reason someone had cut away his rock so I provided him with a real one. He towers over the other Rebs.

Notice that there is a range of shirt colors; that is because in the ACW soldiers frequently provided their own shirts. Typical colors were grey, brown, blue, red, white, green, checked and patterned. Neckerchiefs were also different civilian colors.

Both the Federal cavalryman and his nemesis have repaired carbines which have been made to look like musket carbines. The yankee has been painted in his Hollywood image.

These fellas, except for the Timpo, were painted by me quite a few years ago. Some are in a 'regulation' uniform and look very natty with yellow facings and kepi with dark blue band. The one with high crowned slouch hat is a conversion from Timp figures. The others are mostly Marx. Two of the figures in the foreground could be infantry but they had minimum equipment so I have used them as cavalry/ Some Confederate cavalry also carried full lenth muskets or rifles instead of carbines.
I think these are Imex - casual poses..
                                               And with Marx figure.
Airfix, marx and BMC. The three at right represent Terry's Texas Rangers in two versions of the uniform, one with red trim and one with yellow. (See Blandford book on ACW uniforms),
The Airfix soldier has a new hat. The kneeling Marx figure is meant to be one of Quantrill's men and has two pistols in open holsters; they could be with flaps on holsters also. The Marx officer at back has anew hat. The BMC also have a variety of hat conversions.
BMC and Imex with Marx. The Imex trooper has a pistol with rifle but attachment.
