Imagi-nation Patra

I am currently developing ideas for an imagi-nation called Patra. It is vaguely based on a Romano-Greek-Egyptian nation which becomes a power in its own right but is then cut off from much of the rest of the world by the ever popular and notorious Green Mist.

It is mostly a desert country but with a large strip of fertile green land along the main river.

Its armies include  'lost' Vikings axe men, hoplites, Romans, lightly armoured Egyptians, chariots, war elephants, archers, horse archers, catapults and the like and Greek fire weapons. As the Green Mist lifts and Patra learns of developments elsewhere it is endeavouring to obtain gun powder weapons.

I am currently thinking of rules for the Greek Fire, particularly as hand held weapons. Obviously a template will be employed and no armour saves for targeted enemy. Unlike 20th century flame throwers I am assuming move or fire and perhaps running out of fuel at some point. Any suggestions here would be welcome.

Patra is one of a number of 'bystander nations' that can enter the fray on a random events dice throw or a player nation can decide to invade them. Other such nations are undead Necrolia, demonic Chaos, Dark Elf Land, Orcland, Fritzerland (human with a lot of pikes cannons and matchlocks). The non human lands have some fairly fearsome heavy support in the form of monsters and the supernatural, not to mention plenty of magic. (Human nations may also have wizards).

  2. Thanks for all your supportive comments. I have to do some more work on my maps and to see what finances the nations have for their armies before I'll be ready. Whether Patra gets involved in the campaign is pure chance or roll of the dice.
