Vikings Raid The Toltecs
VIKINGS VERSUS TOLTECS
Thor Longsword was an adventurer above all other Vikings. Not content with journeying to Greenland he pressed on and after many weeks landed in a green and pleasant land. It abounded in game. After a pleasant stay, without encountering people he urged his crews on, Southward along the new coast.
Several times they stopped and camped for a few days. Occasionally the encountered Skraelings. He did not know what to make of these dark skinned, black haired people. Were they orcs or demons? He plunged his sword through one who screamed before he died. In fact many of them screamed as they attacked the temporary fence around the beached ships.
The natives appeared to have little of treasure and they caused the deaths of eight of his men. Thor, when safe to do so ordered his crews to prepare to go to sea again. They sailed for many days and the weather became warmer. The female warrior Greta Gunberg complained incessantly about the heat.
Then one day they landed the ships in a sunny land with alternate jungle and desert. Travelling inland in a larger and smaller group they encountered large and fearsome spotted cats and spikey plants.
The large group saw it first. Buildings that looked like mountains were part of a huge city. Smoke wafted from the tops of these apparent temples. The smell of roasting meat came to their noses, subtly like pork but somehow different.
The smaller group had taken a detour after the rest had crossed a river, Their leader, Loki Dry Feet could not swim (unusual in Vikings) and they looked for a bridge or logs to get across.
Thor's warriors approach the largest temple. Some of the natives in brightly colored suits and padded material move forward towards them - to greet or to fight?
Slowly the sullen natives move back to allow the Vikings forward.
The Toltec king and his priest call out greetings in their strange tongue. The black painted priest holds up something red and dripping - a human heart! Unknown to the Vikings, the king asks the priest if these strange flaxen haired beings are gods. The priest is puzzled by what he sees. perhaps they have been sent by the gods to serve as messengers.
Some native warriors edge closer to Vikings at the base of the largest temple.
Meanwhile, Thor has had enough of the tension and the chatter of the strange leaders, he orders their capture! The king resists, There is an angry murmur from below.
The Toltecs, now so close to the Vikings attack! Stone ripped arrows stick in their shields and armor as some Vikings fall dead.
The Vikings rush forward to embrace their hosts with their swords and axes, they have names like 'Brain Biter' and 'Skull Cleaver'
Even the elite Toltec warriors make only limited headway against he strange metal clad blonde giants.
Axe wielding Berserkers slaver as they swing their merciless two handed axes but a number of the Vikings also fall.
More Aztecs join the fray.
Some natives run from battle but then rally and return.
Viking spearmen hold their ground.
Aztecs guard the temples and their treasure.
A designated group of men carry some treasure, from the king's temple, back to the ships.
Greta Gunberg, always after attention, poses in the mouth of an idol.
A summary of the battle will be added
