Battle for Stickleton: Course Of Battle
A Bogavanian invasion force entered Beerstein territory on the Northern border. Beerstein forces were prepared, including a unit of matchlocks in the two story stone Pepi's Manor House.
Calm before the storm:
Bogavanian heavy infantry chase away Beersteiner matchlock men only to be charged by mounted light mercenary archers. The temporary success of the charge falters given superior Bogavanian numbers and the archer remnant retreats. But by then the matchlock men have turned and formed firing lines. It is time for the Bogavanians to flee but they are totally destroyed by the musketry. Hero Guthrum lies dead, killed by Carl the Blasphemer who had hidden in a hut until he saw an opportunity and attacked even as Guthrum and the Great Swords fought the pikemen.

The Beersteiners had a stronger force but a Misfired spell virtually destroyed the longbow men, taking away a key unit. Then a regiment of matchlock failed to shoot, giving first firing to the Bogavanians who decimated their opposites. But then the hidden matchlock men in Pepi's Manor House opened up, cutting swathes from the great Swords and enemy matchlocks. The Bogavanians fired at this new enemy but the Beersteiners there enjoyed a generous cover save,
Beersteiner pike formed square on the Eastern flank, thus stopping the winged lancers and knights from advancing. Later the Bogavanian lancers and mounted knights turned their attention to the center.
The other Beersteiner pike engaged in a furious melee with mercenary great Swords and the hero, Carl added his weight and the Great Swords and the Bogavanian hero perished.
Boris the Brash lived up to his name and charged the pike, destroying him and Carl but sealed his doom as the Lobsters, led by Prince Sigel charged them, as did the mounted knights.
The Bogavanians withdrew, including a depleted matchlock unit and intact mounted knights, as well as the two cannons. (The cannon played a minor part in the battle but caused a few casualties on the match;ock men in the manor house.
