Plastic Repairs

I recently got a swag of figures from my pal Bob - I'll feature the rest another time. This Cherilea Roman is a lovely figure but he lacked a weapon, his scabbard was broken and there was a crack in the shield. I delved into my plastic spares box and found some of the fantastic DSG swords. One became his weapon and the other the scabbard after cutting off the handle. (As the original figure's broken scabbard had the sword handle on it I assume the original held weapon was a spear but I wanted him to wield a sword so I completely cut off the remnants of the scabbard. The new scabbard was Super glued and then a little Araldite was carefully and sparing brushed, using an old brush ready for disposal, along the edges to further strengthen the hold. I'll paint he figure when I get around to it. The plastic is brittle so I have to handle it with care.

Crescent figures are really nicely sculpted. The standard bearer is going to become a Confederate horse holder and the Indian will get a wire bow. The cavalryman is going to be painted in the yellow and dark blue cap of the 'regulars', with light blue trousers and light grey shirt or shell jacket. I decided to trim off the NCO stripes and trouser stripe as I suspect the NCOs would be wanted in the skirmish line rather than back holding the horses. The only issue I have with this figure is he is a giant compared to my 54mm figures but this never stopped me using him in my games when I was a child and it won't stop me now!
