Ameriga Invades Translovania - Battle For The Steam Flyer
Ameriga (Army Red White and Blue) prides itself on technical innovation. The Righteous Brothers experiments with heavier than air flight have paid off and the Amerigan army has utilised the new technology with its first steam flyer. In a gesture of friendship a demonstration of the vehicle was made on the island of Morejawing. Morejawing is a small island off the Europa mainland. The king there has made friendly overtures to Ameriga, in the hope of gaining some of its technological knowhow.
Unfortunately the show flight of the steam flyer went badly wrong when a storm sent it way off its course and over Translovania (Army Light Green). The pilot had to crash land and the local militias were less than friendly, incarcerating him at once. At this point the Crussians (the stronger ally of Translovania) intervened and requested that the Translovanians not hand back the pilot or the plane. Instead it wanted to take charge of the flyer and to develop its own heavier than air squadrons.
Now, several weeks later, an Amerigan expeditionary force has landed in Translovania, unopposed until it entered the vicinity of the town of Grosnov. It became clear that the flyer was heavily guarded and local forces were taking aggressive action.
These Amerigan regulars inched forward in skirmish but received a severe bruising from the Translovanian Royal Guard. The former then retreated.
The Amerigan Gatlings did deadly damage to enemy infantry, artillery and cavalry. (The Translovanian artillery crews were killed fairly quickly and before they did any damage).
A gallant Translovanian lancer charge clears the street of a depleted unit of Amerigan infantry but is now highly vulnerable to enemy fire.
The Washington Volunteers never makes it into the battle. Foreground, retreating regulars.
The Missouri 'Glory Boys' prove equal to the regulars and advance well forward from the Amerigan right wing.
Plagued by internal rivalries here we see the slouch hatted Syldavian irregulars turn on their Bordurian counterparts.
General James' bodyguard
Supply wagons arrive late but the ammo lasted anyway.
Conclusion: Amerigan fire power outmatched the Translovanians. The latter's usually extensive spy and assymetrical warfare failed them this time; N hidden threats to the Amerigns emerged.
Also three units of Translovania refused to take part in the battle and one even attacked another of its 'fellow countrymen'.
The Amerigan volunteers that were tested in battle proved to be equal to the regulars.
After thirteen moves the Amerigans were in possession of their steam flyer and the pilot they had brought along was ready to try to get it running.
NEXT BATTLE
We will do the same scenario but switching armies so that I'll be the Slavic nation. The positioning of the plane is much easier for the Amerigans this time. it remains to be seen if the famous Army Light Green spy network will serve it well this time and if the army can remain united.
