Mick The IRA Dynamite Specialist And More Trees

I made yet another pine tree, this time from a wicker souvenit pacific tree. It wasn;t a convincing hut so I filled in the entrance with paper towel, coated the whole thing in PVA and sand and after that dried, PVA and fine swadust. When dry it was spray painted with a cheap green enamel and later dry brushed with a green which was brightened with yellow.

In the background is the brass spiral Xmas tree conversion and a banksia cone sutably PVA and sawdust coated  and painted. The last becomes, in time, a bit weak at the base and will need to be hot glued again to its base.

The figure is a conversion of a Crescent Mexican with a pistol cut off and replaced with fuse wire cut to resemble dynamite. The Crescent figures or slightly smaller HK copies can often be bought quite cheaply, especially when they are damaged. The haversack was made from paper and putty. The head is off a repro Charbens road worker. I love those hats that I call Andycap hats after the cartoon character. Someone will tell me their actual name.Originally I made the figure to be a mercenary in my Mexican Civil War or revolution games. The green trousers and hat were meant to reinforce his irish identity. I went for the classic redhead complexion, typical of many Irish.

I placed this pic on facebook on the ACOTS site I asked people to guess the origin of the figure. So far Larry guessed, incorrectly, the Detail Britains flag bearer. No-one else has had a go yet. Of course, if the ACOTS members read this they would know but I suspect most of them rely on my FB posts but the detail is here on this blog.
