Ten Fantasy Campaign Battles January - June 2023

Ten battles in six months are fairly good going. I just looked through my posts and tried to make them easier to find by making a fantasy Campaign 2023 and a Fantasy Campaign label but it was not entirely successful. However, if you want to read the history of the campaigns (I lost track of how many we have had but they started in 2015) type in 'Beerstein', 'Bogavania' or 'Fezia' into the search as well as 'Fantasy' or you can just scroll down all the posts.

As an update on what has happened in this year's campaign is the following: Firstly, Beerstein (under my control) and its adversaries Bogavania and Fezia (under Mat's control) called for a peace treaty as we each had to fight off invasions by other countries. In my case it was Fritzerland which besieged two of my Southern castles. In Mat's case it was Patra to the Southeast which managed to capture two hexes, including a castle. (I took over the Patran armies and mat managed the Fritz ones).

Beerstein fought back successfully and a return to the status-quo occurred.

After the conclusion of hostilities Beerstein invaded Fezia and Bogavania attempted an invasion of Fezia. The latter was repelled. Presently I am besieging a Fezian castle and have just attacked a Bogavanian castle in the North. The interesting thing is we don't know where our enemy forces are until we come into contact with them. Nor do we know their size and composition.

The other unknown quality is our random event dice roll every four map moves. This can even include raids from other countries than our own.

We are now on map move seven and have the siege of the Bogavanian castle to still do. Most sieges have taken the form of a series of battles as one map move has generally been insufficient to take a castle.

BELOW: Sorcerers are fairly powerful in our games, but also vulnerable to misspells.
This unit of Fezian matchlock men was painted during my Summer camping trip and is here, nearly complete. they were converted from ACTA ECW.
