Op Shop Tanks, Warhammer Walker & Star Wars 'Beast Men'
With a little reluctance I recently bought these large toy vehicles from an op shop. I say reluctantly, because big items take up space!
Below is the Humvee with 500mm skeleton warrior for size comparison. Basically, I consider it way over size for my favored 1/32 scale but the weapons are useful. I'll also cut off the opening doors and use them in some future conversions.
These two tanks, with reactive armor are more promising. I have added the machine guns that were on the Humvee. One tank obviously needs a new main gun. I could make it from a marker pen or use something more SF looking.
I don't know if they are based on a real tank and I think they are bigger than 1/32 but if I use them in an imagi-nation or futuristic setting they are just big tanks. Ideas about what they are based on and what I might make from them are welcome.
I am not a huge Star Wars fan, so I don't know the back story but if anyone wants to fill this in you are welcome.
I'll probably keep the trooper as is. For the others they will lose their pistols and get hand weapons and shields to join my growing 'Beastman' army. The Beastmen have not made an appearance in my fantasy campaigns yet. They are a possible random group and country which can turn up in my Unknown lands, or they can be auxiliary troops for Chaos.
Their bodies are ape-like, whilst the faces are more like another creature, such as a goat. Here is another impulse buy, this time from a collectible's bazaar. I'm not sure if I'll assemble it as a dreadnaught walker or just use the weapons, that might look good on futuristic tanks. The magazine with model was $13, which is not much different from the shop price but I think it might be useful.
Back to tanks: This tank was an op-shop find a year or so ago. It is a little like the two new ones. I made a smaller hatch opening and added a soldier. The smaller gun was off an SF toy.
Should I leave the on?
