Hollowcast March After Surviving Inundation

                                                               A new danger looms!

This highlander was awaiting a new paintjob.
                                                  Hilco Federals

Some other hollowcast drying out. That horse has plenty of holes to aid evaporation. I wonder if I'll ever repair it.
The marching Hilco have been in my mind for a while as I like marching units; they look really good arriving from reserve or on a road. A couple of them had labels underneath saying $8, which is a lot more than what I paid for them. What they are actually worth I am unsure. I would have thought four or five dollars each, maybe less.

My looming question is, do I paint them? Looking at them I think a number have probably already been partially repainted. One or two even seem to have had originally red coats. the ones that clearly have repainted faces have the paint caked on so much as to obscure detail. If they were all like that I would strip the paint and repaint. the other, more likely course is I paint over them and repaint sections that I want to improve, like the faces.

The thing with these kepi troops is they make alternative French soldiers, Chileans, Argentinians, Bolivians etc. I am tempted to give them red trousers and kepis. Then they could clearly be French or various South American troops or still be used in the ACW as a volunteer regiment. The light blue pants are still passable for French but maybe not the dark blue kepis.

At the moment I am leaning towards just touching up missing paint and painting over the insipid faces. I am intersted in other people's thoughts.
