Cathedrals & Ancient Greek Heroes Become Tomb Stones
I frequently scavenge items from op shops (charity shops) and repurpose them; this includes various games and toys. Two games I picked up were a Greek ancient hero game (whose name I forget) and a 'Cathedral' game.
With the hero torsos I could use them to somehow make complete large-scale figures or use them as statues and monuments.
Below, you can see some torsos painted as stone and potentially grave markers. A couple of my 1/32 Undead wander around to show scale. The other grave markers I'll come back to.
And here are some painted items. I sprayed the hard plastic items with Games Workshop spray black and dry brushed with three shades of grey.
The winged chap is a casting I made from a Monster in My Pocket figure. I figure this makes the monument (made from the cathedral) a bit Undeady or Chaosy. I also added some patches of fluorescent green to vary the color.
These slabs just look like gravestones.
Here are the rules I never tried to use; (I rarely play bored games).
here are the well sculpted heroes from the other game. I painted them the same way as the monuments but with a lighter grey. One helmet I painted to fit over a head but the rest I'll keep, maybe to one day be used in a large-scale action figure conversion.
The minotaur is my favorite and I was tempted to find a suitable lower body to go with him but decided I already have plenty of minotaurs. So he is just a statue.
Nice work!
ReplyDeleteInteresting painting technique. I should have tried this when I recently painted up some ancient columns, instead of painting them white and blackwashing them afterwards.
Things I usually undercoat black are buildings, statues, dark horses and sometimes figures that are dark skinned or wearing dark clothes.
