Tommy Joins His WW1 Mates - Last Touches to a Metal Soldier

                                                                      He joins his unit.

The second figure from the left at the rear is a conversion from a Call to Arms plastic Zulu War figure. Someone else did the conversion and I re-painted it. Third from the left is plastic Emhar figure. The others are home castings or repaired hollow-cast.

Toy comb used to make a bayonet scabbard. I also replaced the initial left arm as it was too big. Even the one he ended up with I had to carve and sand down to match the right arm.

The source figure for the body was meant to be a Victorian era one, a pigeon handler, in fact; I'll show that one in a future post.
You can see the figure at far right, rear, I stuck to a very old school finish. Usually, though, I have a hybrid one.

These are not my only WW1figures. I also have units of AIP figures. One thing though, I prefer them in the soft caps like Airfix did in their 1/72 figures. I always wished Airfix had done them in 1/32.

At some point (i.e. in some years from now!) I might also do 'Black and Tans and Irish troops for the Easter Rising.
