1/32 Goblins
A little while ago I mentioned the True Legends play set. Among the figures were some orks. They were somewhat smaller than other figures which was annoying as i expect orks to hulk over humans. Then I had an idea to use them as goblins. In the Warhammer universe goblins are puny and have beaky noses. I took two paths -one was to cut off the heads and add goblin heads from GW. These heads are intended for 28mm figures but the heads are so bid that they look fine on these figures. The other option was to use liquid putty to lengthen the noses and to make them pointy.
The other annoying thing about the figures are the over-sized axes. At first i thought o cut away the weapons and drill out hands for new DSG weapons. However the plastic is hard and the hands small to drill so instead I left some figures weaponless for catapult crew. Others I trimmed the axes down to believable size.
Below are the figures prior to painting. Some further pics will be uploaded in a few days.
The conversions.
Compared in size to sorceress and the original unchanged figure in the centre.
Here the original Legends figure is compared to a 54mm ork converted from HK copy of Timpo Action pack figure with new weapon and with Eureka Miniatures ork head. The figure on the right is a 60mm Russian made figure.
Here they are painted but as yet unbased. An undercoated Age ofSigmar GW ruin is in the background. For comparison at the left is one of my 54mm ork conversions, Next, at the front is a 28mm goblin from hero Quest, followed by a metal goblin and then some Inquisition figure snotlings. The hero GW Space crusade is a large goblin for that scale and I might even use these guys as particularly pipsqueak musketeers in my 54mm games as the firearms look earlier than the SF genre. I am fairly happy with the Legends conversions. On reflection, the ones I left with existing heads I would have trimmed down the strong jaws at the sides sto erase the ork character. The boots are rather too much like platform head kicker Doc Martins but this seems to be a characteristic of most of the legends figures.
