Medieval Fezia Attempts to Suppress a Rebellion in Aztecia.
I have been extending my fantasy map of Bogavania and Beerstein to include neighboring countries. One of the significant neighboring powers is Fezia, which has an empire reaching down into the tropics. Its most Southerly, tropical province, is the island of Aztecia. It is a relatively recent acquisition of an isolated, civilization. The Fezians have decided to forego the old policy of leaving native religions to their own devices and instead to stop the practice of human sacrifice. The Aztecs have gold and copper but still use obsidian weapons as they have no iron and have not developed bronze weapons.
For this fantasy world I have developed a hundred possible event table, used every five map moves. This means there is the possibility of other threats apart from war between Beerstein and Bogavania. This means we need to be on alert for threats from unforeseen directions. On this occasion the roll designated a rebellion in Aztecia. This does not directly affect Mat's Bogavania or my Beerstein, except perhaps that it might reduce any future military action by Fezia against Beerstein, especially, and less likely, invasion of Bogavania. We did not have to set up this battle but thought it would be interesting.
I rolled for the number of Fezian units (10) to fight whatever Aztecs I could muster. The Fezians will consist of about two hundred figures and the Fezians about two hundred and twenty or thirty. I had three days to paint at least 60 additional Aztecs. The final paint jobs might not be to a level i regard as finished but will be at least a basic level contrasting with my more detailed existing Aztecs. I also enlisted whatever Indians I had that did not have guns or chiefs' headdresses so it is a very liberal interpretation of what an Aztec is. In the end I decided not to worry too much about a lot of the Indians being plains Indians or woodland Indians; this is a fantasy scenario anyway, Some really 'crappy' swoppet Indians were enlisted. But after they were based they didn't look to bad and I didn't have to paint them, although I might, after further conversion, do this eventually. They will look like little kids next to the giant Reamsa figures that are about 65mm.
The Aztecs will be basically light infantry with a lot of missile weapons of limited effectiveness. They'll be classed as short bows but possibly with an additional save for targets. The Fezians will be short on missile troops but many will have armor, I may add additional movement penalties for using this armor in a hot climate. The goal of the Fezians will be to capture or kill the Aztec leader, whose identity will be unclear) and the Aztecs objective will be to repel the invaders and preferably capture some enemies to sacrifice.
Looking forward to the Aztecs and scenery in action...
