Horse And Musket Forces of Bogavania And Beerstein

The Horse and Musket forces of Bogavania and Beerstein have been advancing by leaps and bounds. Although Bogavania is now largely a client state of Fezia it has prospered from trade with the East. Fezia has allowed continued autonomy and the proliferation of military forces.

Increasingly uniforms have been  formalised and standardised with most Bogavanian forces in blue and Beersteiners in red or red and yellow, and occasionally in yellow. An exception is 'Colonel Lamb's lambs'. Colonel Lamb is a Redian adventurer who has, with a contingent of Redians and locals offered his services to Beerstein. The white uniforms make them distinctive and earned them their name.

The Bogavanian figures in brimmed hats take a typical reserve unit pose.

The Beersteiner general staff look on as the Bogovite regiment takes position. many of these wear the more typical and traditional Bogavanian apparel of massive fur hats and boots, as well as huge beards. Others sport wildly colourful, if more Western clothing.

  1. Great stuff James, what do you use for the pikes? I don't recognize the Beersteiner cavalry, what have you made them from?

  2. The 'drinking unit' I obtained from Bob Bolton and he gave them wooden skewers with a notches made towards the end. They are a little over scale but sturdy and don't bend. The ones I have done have either the original pikes or metal pikes. The original pikes appear fragile and bend a little but are not too bad. The metal pikes I made from straight lengths of wore hammered flat at one end and then filed to points on a grinding wheel.

The cavalry with helmets are mainly Replicants. There are a couple of conversions whose origins I forget. One or two I obtained already converted and just spruced up the paint jobs. The cavalry with brimmed hats were metal 18th century types who were given ACTA heads and spare carbines. I don't know the make of the metal figures. It occurs to me that it would be easy to convert British houshold cavalry with just head swaps. (I also have ACTA cavalry that I have not yet painted). The larger cavalier figures were made from Cherilea foot figures with either altered lower portions or new lower riding bottoms. The riding figure with flag had the same treatment for a ACTA figure (conversion by someone else). There are also a couple of 'lobsters' made from Cresent knights adapted to ride horses, and in one case, with a new head. There horses had putty saddles and equipment added.
