Next Wargame

 This coming weekend Mat and I will wargame the invasion of Lionia by Cortesia in 1905.( If you don't know by now that is Abyssinia analogue invaded by Mexican analogue). This will be the second time we have wargamed a war between these two countries.

                                                    THE POLITICAL SITUATION
Despite being itself the subject of invasions by Blusia and Ameriga Cortesia is venturing out with its own imperial ventures. This will be its second invasion of Lionia and is an effort to expunge the shameful defeats of the last expedition. The reasons for this attention to the dark Continent are the mistreatment of Cortesian missionaries. President Manuel Ortega has demanded compensation from the Raz (Emperor) of Abyssinia and it has been refused with a counter claim made on Cortesia for the destruction caused by its last expedition.

The real reason could well be President Ortega's wish to distract from a looming civil war in his own country, one trigger by conflict between large land owners and small ones as well as a debate over the power of the church.

Oh blast it! Mat has just got Covid from his sister so it will be a few more days until he is cleared.
