Replacing Broken Muskets And Rifles With Bayonets

Wire of suitable rigidity and thickness is the best way to replace broken weapons. The tricky bit is representing an attached bayonet. Simply gluing on a bayonet to the weapon is not a reliable method as it is very vulnerable to being broken off.

I have found a solution. after selecting the best piece of wire I measured the part where the bayonet began and used an electric grinding wheel to flatten the end of the wire and to shape it to the approximate shape. This can be also filed later.

The example I have below is a Napoleonic grenadier. The remainder of the musket was removed with the drill and sharp knife. The hands were drilled out so that the wire could pass through both and leave enough to make a gun stock at the right side.
