Fritzerlanders & Beersteiner Conversions On The Work Bench
I love altering figures to make something entirely different. Left: Hing Fat pirate with green stuff and plumbers' putty additions. he will also get a sword for the left hand and a scabbard. Right: copy of modern infantry by herald with sword replacing pistol. It and the scabbard are cut from flat a metal clip. This is a later renaissance style. The head is a metal one out of the spares box. These two will be Fritz heroes.
Here is a heavy cavalyman, showing the left rein addition. Once upon a time I'd add bits from fuse wire too.I also am adding metal and plastic carbines cut down from flintlock muskets. I didn't have any matchlock ones but in the current campaign they will count as matchlocks. The blanket rolls are from plumbers' putty and the horse is a Britains one.
Virgin soldiers, as yet, untouched by the craft knife!
These are all cheap copies of Airfix and matchlock, except for the 8th Army, that are originals. I sometimes have people asking me how to tell the difference. The originals are slightly bigger, have wider bases and, usually, better definition. The earliest copies were usually the best and least changed.
