And So It Begins, A New Fantasy Campaign, War And Diplomacy Between Five Countries

Below can be seen a Patran Army about to fight a Fezian army half its size. The latter foolishly ventured forth from its Eastern frontier castle.

Fezian forces with their Moon God flag

Their only real hope is the presence of a sorcerer.
                                                         And perhaps the horse archers.

Setting up a new battlefield. Chloe prefers the green.   Patrans worship cats.
A Fritz commander and the drawer system of concealed map moves:
The open drawers indicate military engagements.

So, Mat and I did the secret map moves yesterday. First map move there was no contact. second map move their were four contacts. The first one was a small Bogavanian force of about four units venturing South from the Hounding castle and into Beerstein territory. Present there was a unit of great sword mercenaries performing an undisclosed mission for Beerstein.

This forested territory was obtained from Bogavania last campaign. However, Bogavania and Beerstein have a truce for at least six map moves and this was clearly a violation of territory. Bogavania has been cut in half between the North and the South. mat assured me they were just passing through! As we have both been attacked by upstart third parties neither of us was in the mood for opening hostilities between us. We decided that there was a ten percent chance of war. The percentage dice rolled 96. War was definitely not going to happen here. However, King James admonished Bogavania that these forces must leave immediately, and they did so into their ally, Fezia's land. Any further incursions, I strongly admonished, would result in severe retaliation. I suspected, however, that it would actually be a good time to attack Bogavania, or, especially Fezia, as its forces were, no doubt, heading to its Eastern frontier to deal with Patra. n any case, 'diplomacy' won, this time.

In the East two interceptions have occurred between Patrans and Fezians. In each case the Fezians are severely outnumbered. The first of these battles will occur today.

In the South West Beersteiners have begun to prepare operations against Fritzerland. The latter, although a small country, has made outrageous demands on Beerstein. That is not all; it has actually laid siege to Beerstein's most Southern castle. The besieging force includes siege cannons and many longbows. The castle has a moat and sufficient supplies but its garrison is greatly outnumbered. Will it hold out until help arrives? Will any help arrive? I'll leave you insuspense!

The three battles will occur over the next three or four weeks and that is just map move two!
