PROGRESS OF THE BATTLE
The Fezian cannon did not arrive until late and got off one shot. The Patran catapults, elephant and Hillmen also did not participate in the game.
The Fezians formed a defensive line with the mounted light archers taking position to send swarms of arrows into the Patrans. The Egyptians suffered heavily. Return fire whittled down the mounted archers.
The Fezian wizard attempted chin lightning and also an augment spell. Both succeeded but did minimum damage, but both were also mis-spells and this caused a chain reaction which killed the wizard and swathes of those close to him, the single biggest catastrophe to the Fezian army.
The Feian light infantry and plate infantry charged into melee on the Eastern flank. Some Romans, including the hero eventually fled. Initially. very destructive, numbers eventually counted.
OUTCOME:
The four Fezian wagons with forty credits were captured, as was a cannon and the remnants of plate armored Fezians. The latter had fought well and some Patrans pled for mercy for them, Biggus Diccus scowled and ordered their beheading, strangely lenient for him. However, he had limited time to waste as he had other plans awaiting fulfilment.
It is unknown if the Patrans will learn how to use the cannon as gunpowder has not been part of their technology. However, the Greeks and Romans are both known for adaptability so who knows?
As the winners, the Patrans will get half their casualties back and the Fezians one quarter; this is only for surviving units. Patra lost no entire unit. The only Fezian survivors were two much depleted light infantry units and a mounted archer unit. It is highly likely that these are retreating to a nearby castle.
NEXT BATTLE
The Patran king's army and a Fezian army have met in 187. These forces are more evenly matched, although the Patrans still have an edge.
