Patran Special Characters And Assets - The Sphinx, Warlock And Flame thrower

Each nation has its own special character. The Patrans are basically ancient Romans, Greeks and Egyptians, long cut off from the rest of the world by a mysterious alien intervention; contemporaries ascribed this to the gods. In fact, this world is not actually Earth but a transplant of some kind, or is it a simulation? Ptolemaic Egypt and a 'what if' based on Anthony and Cleopatra being saved and perpetuating their joint traditions in their descendants is the result. The nation is thus called Patra from Cleopatra's name and also the ancient 'hidden' rock face city of Petra. Some elements of medieval Byzantine seem also to have appeared.

Patra has a milder temperature range than ancient Egypt but with some hot desert areas. It's geography is similar to Fezia's with prevalent plains but also desert. A note of curiosity: Fritzerland shares some of the same latitude but, due to its generally high altitude, Fritzerland is colder. But that is another story.

In this world mythological creatures, as well as those from distant Earth prehistory exist. Horrible Chaos creatures also, occasionally permeate from that distant Northern land, as well as various hidden dimensions.

The Patran armed forces have coopted a female sphinx. No-one yet knows her name, as she insists they be able to answer her riddles first. She is able to beguile those she chooses so as to make combat with her difficult. On her part, her wings and claws are put to great advantage. The King's army includes her and she is about to see service.

                                                                         The Sphinx

Greek Fire handheld flamer. Unlike most of the Patran warriors this flamer wears trousers, perhaps to avoid burns. The beard also protects the face but is subject to singing. Other Patran warriors prefer to give the flamer plenty of distance as, if he is killed his flame may go in any direction. The bright colors testify to the flamer's pride in his ability to cause casualties among the enemy, but are, perhaps unwise, as the enemy tends to target him if they know where he is. The fate of a captured flamer is also, thoroughly unpleasant. Flamers are not common and rarely is there more than one in an army.

Taita, the Warlock. Taita's powers of healing are known throughout Patra. His great love for nature is displayed in his tendency to collect animals. he is, however, also a warrior.

Taita summons the giant cat, Chloe, much to the consternation of Taita's pet dog!

Taita's magic lore is The Lore of Life.
