ElastoWit Gorilla Soldiers Painted

These are the first set of Planet Of The Apes figures from ElastoWit. (Another set has since been made and more are on the way).

I like the purple uniforms and there are at least three shades depicted in the films but I went with a brighter purple. Other options would be more of a greyish or brownish purple.

The gorilla skin and hair varies from black to dark brown so I chose black with brown highlights. A lighter skin color would have given more contrast, but the dark shade helps differentiate from chimps. The brown plastic was left unpainted for ammunition belts and guns.

These are really cool figures with a nice mix of poses. General Ursus is a great character, reflected in the pose as he doesn't just give orders but gets right in to the swing of things with a submachinegun. The weapons were one thing I loved about the films - WW2-like but with more wood in the designs, with unique shape. Urus has some metal included in his outfit, not just leather for him.

The building in the background is a homemade Ork building, made by someone else, designed for 40K but with some superficial resemblance to ape buildings.

Next, I'll be working on the human characters.

  1. Awesome! Those figures looks great! Looking forward to see you using them in a game. I'm considering building an ape-army as well

    1. Roger, who will they battle or will it just be hunting primitive humans?

    2. I'm not sure yet. Perhaps they'll be hunting and clashes into human forces.

  2. Some additional options would be using 'wild gorillas' or cheap plastic knockoffs in their unaltered form OR with addition of weapons OR just their heads on human figures.
