ACOTS Is Coming

 Australian Collectors Of Toy Soldiers will be having its annual get together this 2024 Easter. I have lost count of how many have taken place.

                                                        Warriors from every era are coming.
                                                          Warriors of Ozzz are coming.
                                                        The knight herald announces it.
                                                           The Romans are coming.
                                          Jesse James is coming once he finishes his lemonade.
                                           
  One Feather, the Confederate Cherokee brave is coming once he finishes taking a Federal Indian scalp. You can time it on the base.

                                                    US Colored troops are coming.
                                                              Even the gods are coming.
                                                            Aliens packed for transport
                                                            The Black Guard is coming.
                                                       Once a plane is ready, I'm coming.

We have been going for over thirty years and continue the basic format of swap-meet on Good Friday and wargames on the weekend. For most of the time we alternated between Victoria and South Australia with a couple in Canberra and one in NSW. Now we are having them just in Adelaide as the blokes there, particularly Steve and Bob are well placed to host the event.

  Bob always has a lot of stuff for sale that he hunts down at deceased estates and Ebay. There are some other big sellers too. The drawback for me is I long ago gave up travelling by car to interstate events and travel by train and plane. I like to confine my stuff to one backpack which I can take on the plane, at least on the way there; I tend to have a heavier backpack coming back. Consequently, I tend to take only the equivalent of two or three shoeboxes of stuff, and I don't like to take anything too brittle. The Timpo stays at home.

  Both Bob and Steve have large wargame tables and armies. Bob's two tables are about 30 feet long.

  I'll be away for a week, and I am unlikely to post in that time but will give a report, and hopefully some pics, when I come back.

    Those matchlock men are very distinctive, they look like some of Tipu Sultan's army. I also like those early Soviet infantry.

    That is possible as I actually based the uniform on an Indian one from that time.

    Wow that's an impressive collection! 👏
    You're lucky to live in a country whish has annual toy soldiers get toghethers and swap meets,even if there is some distance away. There is really no market for such here....

    So this Easter I'm going to visit a friend who arrange a running-session on his garden railway. I'm bringing my military trains to his drive-in.
