Devil Woman From Mars Has a Makeover & a Beersteiner Engineer gets To Work - Repurposing ElastoWit Figures.

Among ElastoWit 18th century figures is this one brandishing a big piece of timber. No doubt there is a story behind it but to me I just thought, 'military engineer or pioneer'. Anyhow, I painted his jacket Beersteiner red and invented some color trimmings so here he is building a bridge, dismantling a wall or whatever. This particular figure is a resin copy I made as I am going to make a team of them, some with tricorne hats. I forgot to paint his waistbelt white but that will be corrected. I need to redo his right eye as it is wandering off his face!

Next is devil Woman from Mars who is part of the ElastoWit Space Opera set. This is a resin copy I made and converted. The right laser pistol wielding arm did not come out of my glycerin and gelatin mold so instead I gave her a pirate's sword arm. I drilled a hole in the top of her head to hold a piece of pipe cleaner plume. She is going to be an 'Aztec' heroine in my coming campaign.

When I say 'Aztec' I don't mean any Aztec in our known history of Earth. Firstly, I doubt if they had any female warriors and two, their weapons were wooden, with obsidian blades. But this is a different Aztec society and a different Earth. This formidable lady is called Little Petal but don't let that fool you as she is a superb swordsperson.

Her apparel includes bronze or copper breast plate and helmet and leather bronze trimmed loins protectors. These bely the influence of Patra, and especially the Roman part. In fact, Little Petal's paternal grandfather was a Roman Patran of Celtic origin. The border between Patra and Aztecia was often porous and hence the meeting which led to her. But it is where we consider her maternal grandfather that things get really interesting for, he was from Barsoom! This explains Little Petal's unusual skin and eye coloration, not really typical Aztec. The skin has a distinctive reddish glow and the eyes are ice blue, the latter either from her Martian side or her Celtic.

Her father had been a noble commander of the Eagle Knights. He lost his two sons in one of the many Wars of Flowers (conducted to capture prisoners from other tribes to sacrifice to the gods. His then newly born daughter was named in honor of the war and he did the unthinkable and trained her to fight. The emperor so much respected her father that he gave special dispensation to allow the training of a female.

Little Petal fought doubly hard to make up for her gender and she earned many scars including on her  thighs and to her left eye, which was left somewhat popeyed by the blow from a mighty warrior. She almost met her death at the hands of an immense, toad-faced, Mayan warrior but she evaded his worst blows and tricked him into falling from the top of a temple. He was strong and fearsome, but he was clumsy.

Little Petal must now meet a deadly threat to the Aztecs as the Fezians threaten to invade. She must not blink in the face of their terrible thunder weapons. However, a small number of privileged Aztec warriors now had access to metal swords and armor and Little Petal was among them. She went one step further as she had received, from a sorcerer, a magic sword. On its making from a stone seen to fall from the sky, his sword had been dipped in the blood of a Big Toothy One and also had various special incantations made over it. It was meant to deliver a whirlwind flurry of cuts, almost of its own volition. The sword would surely drink the blood of the Fezians.
