How To Get Water out of Hollowcasts

I am looking for collective brain waves here. The flooding of my garage, I have now discovered, completely filled some plastic drawers. These contained toy soldiers that got a nice wash. The plastics and home cast metals are easily dried. However, more hollowcast than I had thought were also drowned. These included 20 marching Hilco ACW Federals with original paint. Presently they are standing on their heads to allow water to run out but the holes on their kepis are small.

I expect it might take a long time for moisture to be removed unless I lop off their heads, something I prefer not to do.

  PS

UPDATE

Well, they were stood on their heads overnight. Today I turned the oven on, then off and placed the figures on a tray there for an hour. Next, I put them outside in the sunshine. No water is dripping out so that is a good sign. I am also about to order a secondhand food humidifier but it might be unneceesary.

  1. You may want to put a small electric fan blowing on them overnight. This will speed evaporation even of the holes are tiny. I enjoy your blog. --Gary in Texas

  2. Place them somewhere hot, or something hot, with the holes up to let the water evaporate?
