Baneblade Warhammer 40K Club

Recently I visited a local Warhammer club and took pics of the games. The members are a friendly bunch, and they have a FB group. Among the adult players a dad had brought a long his son who was about 9 or 10. he was picking up the rules fairly fast, probably faster than I would!

The game with a battle mat featured two Space Marine factions slogging it off. The mat looks particularly good for a cityscape.

The next game had two alien races battling, tau versus Tyrranids. The Tau are mostly blue skinned humanoids that are very shooty whilst the Tyrranids are a hive mind, vaguely insectoid looking. They have bionic firearms and are very nasty in close combat.

I love the Gothic Warhammer architecture, some which I have used with my larger 1/32 figures.

I haven't played Warhammer 40k for many years. My daughter is showing an interest although she never played it before. Although I like the look of the figures and terrain I am struggling to get into it again. I recently got a download of 10th Edition. but 11th Edition is coming out next year. The rules, in terms of pages, seem to go on forever. So, my question to myself is can I be bothered learning a set of rules only to have another amended lot coming out next year?

  1. I'm not into Warhammer my self, but I've got an impression that Warhammer is the entry for many to tabletop gaming, and that they keep staying to this concept. Even if it's not the rules you're mainly into, it offers a local club, a social setting and meeting fellow wargamers. Perhaps some of them do other games as well.
