Metal 1/32 Dwarf Artillery and Hobbit

I had a bunch of 17th century style artillery figures sitting around in a box for quite a few years. The reason I didn't do anything with them is they are closer to 45mm than 54mm. But now I spend more time constructing fantasy worlds I had a revelation: why not use them for dwarfs/dwarves?

I don't know who made these but they are, with plugin heads and guns-smoke quite spiffy. Some of the heads I misplaced so I replaced them with ACW ones from the spares box. It didn't matter if they were slightly oversized because I preferred them that way. I also added long hair and beards from Green Stuff. One fellow had lost his sword so I'll add him to the artillery crew. Another had a broken musket so cut the rest off. I might give him an artillery tool which I'll show in a later post.

I have four horses, two with riders and a cart, for ammunition, I suppose.

The clothing I'll paint in green, yellow and red.

Next up is a hobbit made from an undersized copy of a Matchbox 8th Army officer.

Next to a 54mm figure he is just over waist size. The spear is cut down from a knight's lance. The shield in Games Workshop. he has a new metal head with green stuff hair, cloak and hairy feet.

  1. Nice conversions!
The Matchbox officer turned into a completely new figure! It's pose looks more ''right" now than as the originally "commanding officer".

    1. Thanks Roger. I have done other similar conversions and find that WW2 and modern figures are not very hard to convert into earlier or fantasy and SF periods.
