Rematch Cerise Versus Redia
Mat and I played the same scenario as last wargame with a larger Redian force trying to retrieve the Redian missionaries. As last time I played cerise and mat was Redia and we used the Funny Little Wars rules. The Redians had numbers whilst the Cerisians started with five points for holding he missionaries.
Below, the Cerisians make a determined advance from their left flank. The odd figures in grey are to be part of a new (totally fictitious) regiment which I did not finish in time for the battle but there they just fill up some gaps in numbers. Civilians, in the town watch, bewildered by the sudden military activity. However, among the population are two armed spies.
Redians advance across the front.
Cerisians would not hold fire for civilians and the killed three of them. The Redians killed one civilian, 'accidentally', by over questioning her about alleged spy activity. The Redian colonel involved maintains that the lady was not manhandled and suffered an extraordinary sneezing fit which caused her to hit her head violently on the table.
This frantic woman, with baby, runs for safety.
The civilian, called Dino, writes something unknown on the building.
The Redian spy before capture.
Stunned villagers watch the two armies shoot each other.
The Cerisians facing two regiments to one. The Redian guards also shot up the Cerisian artillery.
A Cerisian Guard unit captures the bridge but comes under heavy fire.
Cerisians on their right flank prepare to make a last stand.
Cerisian cavalry escort the missionaries to the rear. An infantryman also escorts an enemy spy who was dressed as a policeman.
An unexpected surprise was the appearance of the flag of grand Fenwick, but these chaps were sent to help their ally. here they exchange fire with Cerisians in the village.
After being Initially captured by dismounted Cerisian cavalry, these were, after suffering high casualties, replaced by infantry, shown here.
Dismounted Redian dragoons shoot into the buildings.
Redian Royal Marines were so reduced they retreated but the Highlanders advance and give deadly fire.
A Redian spy, disguised as a tramp, is captured by the Guards, after his bomb fizzled. The woman was captured on suspicion, but she was not involved in the spying activity.
This Cerisian unit has suffered high losses.
OVERVIEW
The Redians lost one gun, (to enemy cannon), one cavalry regiment and one infantry regiment. The Cerisians lost a machine gun, a cannon and a Guard unit. remaining regiments were perilously ow in numbers. Redian numbers were also down,
The Cerisians held the captives, still. Each side held, uncontested, a table quarter. When the points were added up the Ceirisans won by two points, However, the Redians had rolled up the Cerisian right flank.
We rolled the de to see if the game continued after move 12 but it terminated, probably just as well for my Cerisians.
In conclusion, it was a narrow victory for Cerise, but they were not in a good position if the battle had continued.
