Mexican/Cortezian Conversions Painted

This is almost a complete unit but I am aiming for two of 24 figures each, one unit charging and one unit firing.

The flag bearer in pith helmet was converted from a British AIP figure. Pith helmets were worn in the Mexican Revolution, notably by artillerymen. The flag is another fictitious one from The Virtual Armchair General.
The polystyrene backdrop has been used for an Aztec building, and I'll eventually finish it for Mexican or Middle Eastern scenes.
The kneeling fellow at far right had his bayonet break so I finished the job, to cut it right off and repaint.
The two middle fellows need some more work done to finish the bases.

When I finish two regiments I'll supplement with my Japanese/Cerisians, minus their flag to get three regiments. I also have other regiments in kepis, slouch hats and sombreros.

Eventually I'll do a Wild Bunch game and I have read of one done in 28mm. The 'heroes' will be extra good shots and their opponents mediocre, otherwise the game would be over very quickly. They also will have a number of saves.

ENHANCING FIGURES

The AIP figures are a mainstay of many of my armies. They generally look great. However, the nature of the one-piece plastic figures is they may have unwanted wedges of plastic. For example, these kneeling figures have them between the shoulders and the rifles. The rear ammunition box also has one, making it look too long. I forgot to trim these but the way to do it is two deep cuts until they meet and the wedges removed. It is, unfortunately, easy to miscalculate and to cut the rifles in half. On this occasion I painted the wedge areas a darker, greyish shade of the uniform and it works from a distance.

  2. Nice unit, I have stupidly large forces for the Revolution period in Mexico in 20mm. Mine aren`t as smart looking as these :)
