Do You Want Dirt With That? Modern Infantry Sold, in a bucket, With Special Dirt!

Recently, I bought a bucket of soldiers from an opportunity shop. I am guessing they were not played with as they came with artificial and 'clean' dirt. If a child had played with those toys the dirt would have got lost or vacuumed up fairly quickly. Maybe it was intended for children unlucky enough not to have backyards to play wargames in. In any case I would be wondering what strange substances made up the 'clean dirt'. Maybe this was intended as a marketing tool for parents worried about their children getting dirty. My verdict? Daft! It would be better to include extra toy soldiers than to sell 'dirt'.

This brings me to the 54mm figures. They come with a spare American assault rifle and loose anti-tank weapons that fit with sitting figures. Another pose is running holding, one handed, the same weapon. I have never had to carry one of these weapons, so I don't know if that is doable.

The figures come in two colors which is handy for children to depict two sides or for adults who game with plastic army men but don't paint them. Once we would say these are American troops but many modern nations have the same style uniform and helmets, and to a lesser extent, weapons. (Incidentally, as a change I'd like to see more cheapo figures with Ak 47s).

A few of the figures have floppy hats. The one with binoculars is a nice pose. The sculpting on the figures is very good. I had never seen these figures before.

In the background is my castle ruin, made from wooden blocks. originally it was all one piece and painted white and blue as an ancient temple, but I foolishly left it on my back verandah for a long time where water got to it, so I had to cut the base and repaint in smaller sections. I need to paint some missed parts.

The anti-tank weapon is not glued in place and is not necessarily held in the correct way.

The prone shooting figure is a nice one to put in a building or in some rocks.
