Resin Copies Of Britians Detail Cuirassier, 18th century Grenadiers & Victorian Nurse.
I am gradually adding to my 18th century grenadier unit. it began with Charbens figures but I had a shortage to make up the units. two paths I went down to build up the numbers. The BMC Revolutionary war set has grenadiers in the fur caps and other figures in short miter caps or tricorns. Among the tricorn figures are, strangely, two sizes, one being closer to 60mm. I picked the taller figures and trimmed the hat before molding a miter cap. Some of the figures lack bayonet scabbards so I cut these from split pins or hairpins. Sometimes I drill a hole into the figure so there is more purchase for the glue.
The other pathway was to make glycerin and gelatin molds. The molds are not always 100% successful but I build up the missing bits, using Green Stuff and copper or steel wire.
I had a nice plastic nurse which was obviously a relatively modern era one. I added putty to lengthen the dress and apron. I also enhanced her Bousum!
