Bastet, Goddess of Cats

 

Bastet is a major goddess of the land of Patra. The Patran ruling groups and kings and queens are descended from the Ptolemies and Mark Anthony and other Greeks and Romans. The next level consists of the 'native' Egyptians themselves. A kind of 'revival' has taken place in Patra which encourages the clothing and customs of old pre-Greek Egypt. However, the elite army units are in ancient Roman and Greek hoplite styles of dress and weaponry.

  The mysterious uber-aliens had transported vast numbers of the people to a new land on 'New Earth'. It is unclear if these humans, transported, were from an alternate universe or if the aliens had removed them before harm could come to them from the vengeful forces of Rome.

  As for Bastet, goddess of cats, the old rules still apply; anyone who harms or kills a cat faces the death penalty. Tall statues of cats and Bastet are common in Patra.
