Another spin on 'Star-ship Troopers'

Quite common are these relatively recent futuristic troopers. They are very cheap but fairly nicely modelled figures. Really, they look pretty much like modern infantry but with chunkier weapons, similar to Warhammer 40K. I did notice that the figure I recently painted has a bent nose and a wedge of plastic between arm and body (which I painted grey-black).

Below can be seen a scale comparison to a Cherilea figure and this is a 54mm Cherilea so it is clear that the figures are smaller than 54mm unless we say they are very young cadets or genetically engineered, for some reason, to be small.

I had, at an earlier date, painted a set of these in grey camo. This time I decided on a more retro look, as you might see in The Trigan Empire, Flash Gordon etc. So, maybe they are not intended for trapsing through jungles, forest and wasteland but for defending palaces and spaceships. They could even be a presidential guard. Or the vegetation could be blue. Some contemporary Chinese units are in blue camo. But the Bright Bronze armour and helmet here are giveaways that this is pure indulgence.

That blue, is one of my favourites, Caldor Sky from GW.
