October Conversions, From Robots to Jacobites
I wanted to bring my Jacobite highlander unit up to 24 figures, but I wanted some more variations. First up, below, is the flag bearer with replacement DSG shield. I should add some putty straps on the shield.
Next, I was looking for a suitable head and found one from an aliens versus humans set; it had to be large enough to go with these tall and beefy figures. This is actually a woman's head from a Rosie the Rivetter looking figure. The head scarf is now a bandage under the green Stuff cap. Even though the Sf figures are no more than 50mm high the heads are over-large.The scabbard was added from a split pin.
The figure at right is an Armies in Plastic WW1 highlander. I intend the figure as an occicer. Actually, the pictures I have seen of Jacobite officers has them in trews, perhaps better for when they ride horses. I assume that some of them also wore kilts. The pistol hand comes from an Accurate AWOI figure.
I collect sailor figures, including the Marxmen ones. These hard plastic figures often have a hand or arm broken off. For this one I made a replacement from wire and Green Stuff.
As I have recently been playing SF games I decided on making some more robots. I had a couple of human sized Transformers so they are going to be small robots. Here is the paint I used, quite a nice Model Color shade. previously I just added various colors to silver or bronze paint.
I did not like the existing head so replaced them with a different robot head, at left, and a knight's head at right. These blokes are going to be an anti-armor unit for the big boy robots.
The Jacobites, again: I would really like another one hundred or so of these fellows but they will be used in fantasy games so I don't have to have an army of them; they will probably fight alongside Vikings as Hillmen.
