Steam Punk Tankers & More
This %#@* Internet keeps dropping out but here goes.
Scot of the Man of Tin blog loves using 'Pound Store' figures for SF and imagi-nations scenarios. Some of the cheapo modern infantry are actually fairly good but do vary in quality. I noticed Scot used some of these to go with his milk carton steam punk tank. The inspiration came from interwar period French tank men. The reddish brown leather coats, helmets and beige or light khaki trousers looked spiffy so I thought I'd do some too.
I decided to follow Scot's lead and leave the modern weapons unaltered but to paint them brass. (I could have trimmed them to loo historical but didn't).
I did go a step further and added pig faced gas masks. I drilled holes in the faces and added pieces of sprue then added putty for gas masks with a biro inner used to imprint the googles.
Armed with 'Electric Guns'...
Conversion process. Some figures in the this series have gas masks but I like this pose.
The bases are cut from cardboard ring binders or children's thicker card games.
Some of the gas mask respirators came out too small so I built some up with putty (still to be painted).
The other figure is a post apocalyptic Technolog one.
The vehicle was made some time back for a game set on another planet where human military technology was very mixed. I will e making vehicles specifically for these new figures. I might even copy Scott's milk carton tanks.
