Land of the Giants - Brown Giants and the coming fantasy campaign.
The two new Hulk conversions are now painted with just some touching up left to do. The most obvious difference from the earlier conversion is I have given them dark skin. Classic fantasy influenced by Viking and Anglo-Saxon mythology as well as Lord of the Rings has a pseudo-European setting so humans and many humanoids such as dwarfs, elves and giants also tend to be depicted with light skin. Given that our approaching fantasy campaign is based on a grab of islands that tend to be more tropical I reasoned that any giants there might well have dark skin.
The giant at left has a vest made from goat skins and he must have almost driven the goas on his island to extinction The next brown skinned giant had a number of rough spots where the gap filling left 'scars'. Rather than sand the back I left them and painted them as wounds.
The greenish grey figure could be a 'giant' although he is dwarfed by the other giants. I forget where he came from.
Any island deemed to have giants will have D3 of them plus, possibly units of ogres or trolls.
Other possible inhabitants of other islands include ancient Romans, Greeks, American Indians, Aztecs, medieval Europeans, English Civil Wars types or a mix of them with medieval, Dark Elves, Orcs, Chinese with bows, cannons, halberds and matchlocks, Land of Ozzz good or bad forces, dinosaurs and cavemen and Ebons/Nubian tribesmen. There is also a possibility of King Island! The Ozzz forces would be technologically on equal terms to the invaders. For each ten hexes the island has ten combat units with each of these diced for as to its type.
We don't know yet who is on each island. I think a war between ancient Romans and 18th to early 19th century types in red uniforms and tricornes would look cool.
There are also varying percentage chances that certain of the inhabitants will regard the newcomers as gods. The highest chances are with the Aztecs and cavemen.
We have the option of launching more than one fleet at a time and more than one island although this could be risky if the inhabitants are strong and forces are spread thin. We will also dice roll to see if the natives greet the invaders on the shore or stay in the interior.
Meanwhile, every four moves we roll for random events that include the possibility of raids and invasions from our neighbors.
Lastly there is the possibility of war breaking out between our colonial powers.
