The Uber Aliens

  Just our own galaxy is teaming with aliens with a small percentage of several million being smart enough to have civilizations. Among those are a few hundred thousand interstellar aliens but mostly confined to their immediate interstellar neighborhood. Some of the most advanced have visited Earth since prehistoric times. I won't bore you here with the technological explanation of how such travel was accomplished other to say it included the bending or folding of space and also interdimensional travel.

  Most of these aliens have humanoid shape as the best form for a technological species. The most advanced of these beings, the Kelarks, have, for many centuries, reshaped themselves through genetic engineering and cyber implants. By human standards they are virtually immortal and godlike. Humans are potentially destined for a similar evolution, if the aliens permit it.

  I know what you are thinking. These aliens, having accomplished interstellar travel must be extremely virtuous and way ahead of humans in morality. Well....here is the truth: The Kelarks are jaded and no matter how advanced their 3D video games, they are looking for new sources of entertainment; humans are doing this. Just like the ancient Greek gods the Kelarks use humans as living gaming pieces. Although they have, at various times, interfered in human history on Earth their greatest lark was the wholesale kidnapping of humans from various civilizations and eras. After being put to sleep they were transported along with their cultural, religious and technological trinkets, were awakened on another planet, very like Earth, even down to some geographical features - (the planet of New Earth is actually artificial with the aliens living in its hollow core). 

  The various societies are often isolated from others by the placement of lethal toxic green fogs. At other times these barriers are removed and the aliens get great pleasure in watching the interactions between the different civilizations. They are especially interested to see if those of lower technology can adapt to encountering the more advanced ones.

  Actually, the very slight magical powers of certain individuals on Earth 1 have been mightily advanced on Earth 2, so much so that they sometimes counter greater technology.
